Converting Video to DVD

DVD discs have the advantage over traditional video cassettes in being small to store and less prone to mechanical error having no moving parts. DVD has quickly become the primary recording medium pushing the former video VHS format to obsolete status. Our studio can help to preserve video tape material by transferring it to the new format. This can either be a basic copy of the footage or be arranged into "chapters" navigated on the DVD by a menu system.

To copy video to DVD successfully the analogue audio and visual signals need converting to digits either via an edit suite or dedicated DVD recorder. Although stand-alone recorders are now available discs produced are often quite successful on the same player but not necessarily compatible across other players. It is therefore worthwhile having valuable material converted professionally.

Converting Video to DVD

Converting for different TV systems

Different video formats applied in various regions of the world to cater for each television system (ntsc, secam, pal etc). The DVD format has not overcome this issue as they too have to be made to suite specific regions. While our studio can transfer most former video formats to DVD we normally only cater for Region 2 DVD's although we can advise on production for use in other countries.

What Next?

As new technology progresses DVD can be viewed as a transitional format rather than a permanent storage medium. Computer hard drives are already in use for recording television programmes and internet broadcasts.
