DVD discs have the advantage over video cassettes in being small to store and less prone to mechanical error having no moving parts. The studio can convert video to DVD and add a menu if required. To copy video to DVD successfully the analogue audio and visual signals need converting to digits either via an edit suite or dedicated DVD recorder. Although stand-alone recorders are now available discs produced are often quite successful on the same player but not necessarily compatible across other players. It is therefore worthwhile having valuable material converted professionally.
